Business Impact Award

The new Business Impact Award is presented to the business that has benefited the most from its KTP project in the 12 months following the project completion date.

This year’s winner, Canyon Europe Ltd, specialises in the design and manufacture of high quality and innovative trigger sprays and dispensers. Its KTP with the Polymer Process Research Centre (PPRC) at Queen’s University, Belfast, aimed to reduce raw material costs through a programme of material substitution and quality improvements, to further introduce new product development capabilities, optimise manufacturing processes, and reduce waste through data-analysis and the implementation of new tools and processes.

Since October 2007, when the KTP was completed, the KTP has continued to have a positive impact on the business. Examples of this include:

• The number of trigger sprays and dispensers manufactured per year has risen from 100 million to 125 million and is still increasing
• Canyon Europe Ltd is now the largest manufacturing facility of the Canyon Corporation’s four manufacturing sites by a significant margin
• Increased share in European market from 22% to 28%
