AWE plc, the University of Brighton and Associate Kieran Agnew
As a result of the KTP project, AWE plc has gained new knowledge in the effectiveness of the Ferric Iron Remediation Stabilisation (FIRS) process in remediating a range of radioactively contaminated soils on site, and standard operating and QA procedures. This has enabled AWE plc to evaluate the FIRS process and to consider the use of the technology within its remediation programme. In addition, the KTP project has improved AWE’s standing and reputation within the UK science community and abroad. The KTP project has been cited to the Environment Agency and Ministry of Defence as evidence of AWE’s commitment to deal with legacy ground contamination and to be at the forefront of science.
