This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Engineering Graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. Finishing Brand UK design and manufacture paint spraying and fluid handling products and equipment; supplying, primarily the Automotive OEM, Automotive Refinishing and General Industrial Global markets with Atomisation products. This post is a dynamic role looking to maximize the atomisation potential of product for increased transfer efficiency, whilst maintaining quality of finish and speed of application.
The challenge for the post holder will be in mapping the paint spray gun process and, from this, developing and validating a range of design tools. They will then be responsible for the technology and knowledge transfer of these tools within the company. As part of the R&D team the tools will then be used in the development of a range of novel paint spray devices.
The key challenge of this project will be to provide productive contributions to design and testing of the final product and to fully participate in embedding the innovative practices gained from the project within the company. In addition the role requires, working in a commercial company in close contact with other staff, in which the Associate will gain experience of being a key player within the growth of the business.
The successful candidate will undertake a 24 month collaborative project between Finishing Brand UK Ltd and the University of Salford (School of Computing, Science & Engineering) within the internationally recognized Spray Research Group (SRG). Based in Bournemouth, you will be supported by the staff from the company and an academic team from the University of Salford whilst undertaking scientific research work. The post holder from their involvement in this programme will also gain a deeper understanding of research and development in turning an idea into commercial reality.
The successful candidate will receive extensive practical and formal training, gain highly desirable specialist business skills, broaden knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project, and gain valuable experience from their commercial and academic mentors. The KTP Associate will benefit from a Personal Development Budget of £4,000 and will have the opportunity to register free of charge for a postgraduate research qualification.
Candidates should possess a degree with a minimum of a 2.1 or a higher degree in Engineering (Aero or Mechanical) discipline. A master degree although desirable is not an essential requirement when applying for this post as the opportunity to study for a further qualification is available. Relevant work experience is desirable when applying for this post.
