This project will support Caritas Anchor House (CAH) in the development of a software application implementing a “Global Notice Board” (GNB), building on the software engineering research experience of Middlesex

The Global Noticeboard (GNB) being developed by Caritas Anchor House (CAH) is a social media platform that has a charitable, humanitarian purpose at its core, rather than a simple communications medium. The aim is to build a community of givers and receivers across the world, to connect those in need with those who are able, willing and ready to help
Skills required: A good first degree (1st or 2.1) (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related area
? Strong technical programming skills.
? Notions of system administration skills
? Ability to work as part of a development team using appropriate tools.
? Understanding of all phases of software development
? Commitment to and understanding of the charity area
? Ability to think creatively/laterally about challenges/opportunities and potential solutions
? Ability to engage individuals and organisations as required by the project and work as part of team

Person Specification - Essential Requirements
Education / Qualifications:
? BSc 1st or 2:1 class degree (hons) (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related discipline
? Meet adequate English Language requirements (IELTS score 6.0 or above for nonnative English speakers).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
? Evidence of work on non-trivial software projects.
? Ability to work on specific software development tasks, including testing.
? Ability to work independently and self manage.
? Commitment to and understanding of the charity sector
? Good interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage with a variety of people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Desirable Requirements - Education / Qualifications:
? Postgraduate qualification in Computer Science or related discipline
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
? Experience in the development of client-side software using HTML and CSS.
? Experience in the use of versioning tools in a team environment
? Experience with managing the lifecycle of a software projects
? Experience with testing and verification.
? Experience with research and publication process
? Hands-on experience in object-oriented programming, web applications and databases
