As KTP Associate you will be employed by Lancaster University, but will be based at Compact Instruments, which is located in Bolton. Following on from proof-of-principle work, you will lead this exciting project which aims to design and develop a new range of commercial electrochemical sensors to monitor and control the water quality in both domestic and commercial aquariums. The project aims to deliver the research and development needed to fully understand and model the measurement process with the generation of sensing systems suitable for commercial exploitation. A key element of the work will be prototyping using 3D printing technologies. You will work closely with and be supported by the senior management team at CI and academics from the Department of Chemistry, principally Head of Department, Professor Peter Fielden (Analytical Chemistry), and Dr Nick Evans (Ion sensing molecules).
Ideally you will have a PhD relevant to electrochemical sensors and/or chemical measurement instrumentation. Additional attributes will include a desire to learn about 3D printing prototype development along with good project management and team working skills.
