This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in developing and applying cutting-edge AI to real-world problems of direct benefit to people and companies. Based at Lyons Davidson headquarters in Bristol you will join the software development team (File Dynamics) to create innovative systems supporting the provision of legal advice helplines. The project is fully supported by an academic team from the University of the West of England to transfer AI skills and knowledge into the business.

The position is a 24 month fixed term contract, which includes management and business skills training provided by the national KTP programme and a further £2k per annum dedicated training budget tailored towards your personal development. On completion of the KTP project, it is Lyons Davidsons’ intention to offer on-going employment to the right candidate.

Skills required: Essential skills required:
Previous experience of applying Machine Learning/ AI-based approaches to a significant real-world problem.
Proficiency in programming with one or more high-level programming languages such as C#, Python and Java.
Experience of using team-based software development approaches (e.g. agile methodologies), practices (e.g. time-boxed, continuous integration and stakeholder communication), and development tools (e.g., Jira, Github etc.).
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in layman's terms
Ability and desire to understand the business domain and engage with non-technical staff and clients.
Excellent time management and organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Willingness to learn and ability to fill in knowledge gaps independently

Desirable skills required:
Interest in developing commercial knowledge and customer-facing skills
Familiarity with Microsoft cloud-based environments
Familiarity with speech recognition systems.

A real interest in ML/AI and its application to real world problems and systems.
Experience of creating systems in Python that exploit existing AI / ML toolkits, such as TensorFlow, Keras etc.

Some experience in programming with SQL and using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
