Working for B and B Precision Engineering Ltd in Huddersfield, you will lead a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project to develop and commercialise thermal spraying of novel nano-structured coatings using the High Velocity Oxy-Fuel straying (HVOF) technique. The post holder will identify the appropriate raw materials for the powders, apply the coatings using the HVOF technique, and develop documentation and processes to embed the new techniques into the business. This will result in improved quality of coatings.
Skills required: The post holder (the Associate) will hold a BSc/MSc degree in Materials Science/Materials Engineering, preferably with experience in surface engineering and thermal sprayed coatings. Where a Mechanical Engineering BSc is held then an MSc in Surface Engineering would be desirable. The Associate will work in an interdisciplinary environment as part of a team which includes world-class academics and experienced company employees. The Associate will be enthusiastic, a motivated self-starter, reliable, well-organised and keen to learn. It is anticipated that that there will be some overseas travel as part of the role.
